so when was the last time you prayed for someone's protection? i suppose many people are praying for protection these days. pandemics, natural disasters, war, cancer, recession. and i suppose we do tend to think of the body needing protection, our physical self is at risk and so we turn to prayer. it is easier to pray for what we can see. but there is an other need for protection but not from swine flu, terrorists, storms or even this recession. there is a true need for God's protection over one's mind, heart, reputation, and witness. our body is of no real concern in light of the power that people have to destroy our witness with unfounded rumours, damage our hearts with confusion, ruin our reputation by undermining our character and allow satan to a grab a foothold in our minds by cruel and unthoughtful words. this week i felt the need for God's protection. He is trying to show me the balance between standing up for myself and letting Him fight for me and protect me. the psalms bring so much comfort. there are many prayers for protection. many from bodily harm but also so many from adversaries, those that seek to destroy by word and deed. and while its hard it is good to trust in God for is ultimate protection. and even if some manage to destroy and hurt they can never take away our true and real security in Christ. God fights for His children, He protects His loved ones, and God never forsakes. protected and thankful for:
* God's power and desire to fight for His children!
* a good weekend resting and enjoying the amazing weather we had :)
* good conversations with friends this week- it so good to have their support and love as well!
